In case of a school cancellation, conditioning will be cancelled. The parent meeting will be held at 6:00 pm in Room 157 regardless of a school cancellation.
As the seasons grows closer, here are a couple news updates regarding track and field:
Due to eLearning days and Coach Miller's recent illness, conditioning has not been as consistent as hoped. To help give students an opportunity to get some work in before the season begins, conditioning is being extended. Conditioning will now be from 3:00pm to 5:00pm and is now 5-days/week for all event groups. Conditioning is still optional and there is no penalty for not attending.
Reminders for Upcoming Dates:
The following is a quick outline as to what groups are conditioning on what days:
Please note that all athletes are welcomed to join in optional conditioning on everyday. No conditioning is closed to any specific group of athletes. Other sports are more than welcomed to join this conditioning as well. This schedule was created to give athletes an opportunity to spend time with family and friends, complete homework, be involved with other extracurricular activities. Each athlete will be given some "at-home" workouts to complete during days they are not regularly scheduled for conditioning. As track season quickly approaches, this is a reminder to all students interested in off-season conditioning, conditioning will begin Monday, January 8th. Conditioning is completely optional and is not a necessary requirement for participating with track and field during official start on February 12th. Conditioning is from 3:00 - 4:30pm. Athletes need to be changed and present in Coach Miller's room (Room 157) by 3:00pm. Tardiness will result in an absence. Again, this is optional! Conditioning is not allowed for any Luers student currently participating in an IHSAA school-sanctioned sport (basketball, wrestling, swimming, diving, gymnastics). Look forward to seeing you all there!
Even though it is a couple days early... HAPPY NEW YEAR to you from Bishop Luers Track and Field. Bishop Luers Track and Field would like to congratulate the boy's football team and Coach Lindsay good luck for winning the Sectional Championship!
Members from the 2016 track team on the football team include:
Track call-out meetings will be held on Tuesday, October 31 and Wednesday, November 1. Meetings will take place in Room 157, and will start promptly at 3:00p.m. Any athlete planning on participating with Luers track this spring should attend. This meeting will last between 10-15 minutes for athletes currently in a winter sport (or football if still in season, hopefully they are) and between 15-20 minutes for athletes not participating in a sporting season. Please attend one of the two meetings, athletes need not attend both. The doors to the meeting will lock at 3:00 and will not be opened again until the conclusion of the meeting. Hope to see you all there!
PS - If your athlete plays a club sport, participates in AWP, or has any extracurricular obligations, please see the calendar section of the website. If enough notice is given to coach Miller, we can work to accommodate schedules the best way possible! In case some of the Luers track members have not heard: The girl's from Bishop Luers won the IHSAA Cross Country Bellmont Sectional title Saturday! Luers track is well represented on this Sectional Championship team, with the following girls participating in XC and track:
Along with these girls, Stephen Busch qualified for the IHSAA Regional Meet as well. Stephen placed 4th overall on the boy's side. If you are interested in attending this Saturday's Regional Meet, it will be hosted in Marion, IN. Admission is $5 per person, and more information can be found by going to the IHSAA website. Congratulations to Head Coach Jordan Miller on completing his USATF (USA Track and Field) Level 1 Certification. This is another step toward creating the best possible experience for Bishop Luers Track and Field athletes.
It is with great pleasure and pride that the Bishop Luers Track and Field program announces a gracious donation from Indiana Physical Therapy, a donation which will allow the track program to get a complete new pouring for the track surface and pit runways! The process will begin in June of 2018 and will include a stripping and removal of the existing surface (down to the asphalt), minor asphalt repair work, and a base-mat application. This new surface will also provide an easy opportunity to spray a polyurethane top coating which will help to keep a complete resurfacing project from being needed again for nearly 30 years. This donation/project is not only set up to give a high-quality, safe, and up-to-date track for the students of today's track program, but for the children of today's track members as well. Thank you is an understatement. Please give your appreciation to any member of Indiana Physical Therapy when you see them at their facilities, or out in the community!
More exciting updates will be coming to the schedule and to the program (along with CYO), please stay tuned and keep up to date by checking this website weekly, even in the offseason! |
